Blue Sky

My favorite color has always been blue. I like all of its shades: I like it whether it is a light blue, a dark blue, or turquoise. Like many, I associate blue with the sky, making it hoId a special place in my heart because I have a lot of pleasant memories of it. One that stands out from the rest is from my early elementary school years. I had gone with my family to fly a kite in Old San Juan, right in front of the El Morro Castle. There were many people with a similar idea given the wide open green park and gusty breeze that seemed to be ever present in that area. I was mesmerized watching the kite flutter in the strong island winds, against a bright blue sky. Suddenly, I accidentally let go of it. The kite spiraled higher and higher into the atmosphere, completely in the hands of the wind current, as I said my goodbyes and watched it disappear into the distance. Eventually, it was so far away that it seemed like the sky had swallowed up its afternoon snack.

This necklace was inspired by these vivid memories from my childhood, reminding me of the power of mother nature, and how she has a special way of course correcting and always returning back to her happy baseline: the quintessential bright blue sky.
